While lifting heavy certainly increases strength, the potential for injury at any age is too great a risk lifting heavy things on a weekly basis. Don’t push yourself to the limit and instead concentrate to improve your performance. Your diet pretty much dictates your body composition so you don’t have to exercise so hard to increase or maintain muscle mass, strength or decrease body fat. Instead exercise to prevent injuries using your own body as weight and improve performance by staying active.
